Republicans have been working for years to acquire the ability to check President Obama’s power and stop him from steamrolling Congress.

Now, taking full control of the legislative branch, the Republicans have achieved their long-sought-for goal. But the first thing the party leaders want to do is … give Obama more power to bypass Congress and unilaterally enact his open-borders agenda.
GOP leaders have wasted no time in declaring they are eager to work with the White House. The American people are itching for more “bipartisan cooperation in Washington,” party spokesmen say and corporate media presstitutes solemnly repeat, and that’s what the new GOP Congress is going to deliver, by golly.
Conveniently, the top items on this we-can-all-get-along legislative agenda are immigration reform and “fast track.” Fast track is known in Washington Novocain-speak as Trade Promotion Authority, though it would more accurately be labeled “Promote Obama’s Authority to Bypass Congress,” because that’s exactly what it does. Fast track takes the power given exclusively to Congress under the Constitution to regulate commerce with foreign nations and surrenders it to Obama. The founders wanted to prevent the president from unilaterally negotiating deals that reward his supporters while harming the nation. Fast track makes it possible for him to do exactly that.
Obama will be able to negotiate NAFTA-like deals with foreign countries in secret and sign the agreements without consulting Congress. After he signs the deals, Obama will then dictate to Congress when to vote on the deals – and Congress will not be able to amend or change as much as a comma in what Obama has concocted in secret with his corporatist cronies.
Fast track is one more piece of the open-borders agenda. The Wall Street bailout banks and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce – the same mob furiously pushing for so-called “immigration reform” to guarantee an unlimited supply of cheap domestic labor – are demanding Congress give Obama fast track power. It will further open our borders to another flood of cheap imports and more outsourcing of American jobs and industries. The cronies’ business model is simple: When you can’t bring cheap labor to the factory, take the factory overseas to the cheap labor.
Why on earth would a Republican Congress elected to check Obama give this president even more sweeping powers under fast track? From its selective enforcement of immigration law, to Fast and Furious, Benghazi, NSA and IRS scandals, this administration has shown contempt for the constitutionally mandated co-equal role of the Congress.
While Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Beijing, Speaker John Boehner, Barack Obama and the corporate media talk about bipartisan cooperation, the American people understand what bipartisan cooperation in Washington really means: both parties, in Congress and the White House, working together for the well-connected, big-money insiders and against the interests of the little guy who works for a living.
The newly elected members of Congress need to hear that We, The People, expect them to oppose fast track and the entire open-borders agenda.
